online digital photo processing
Some photo sharing sites also provide online digital photo processing usually against the payment of a small fee

Photographs are some of our most prized possessions. With today’s technology the possibilities are seemingly endless when it comes to creating wonderful creations as keepsakes for friends and family. Online photo processing can help you with these creative endeavors.

Years ago, you had to run all over the place just to get your film developed. Originally, people had to wait weeks and weeks for their basic prints. Anything above and beyond the typical photograph would cost extra and the price added up quickly. Later, features like one hour photo processing made the wait bearable but now you have instant gratification with online photo processing. The great thing about using a digital camera for online photo processing is that you can see what the images look like already. Many of us used to spend good money on bad pictures. Many of the prints were out of focus, off center or the timing was off when the button was pressed. Now you can weed through the bad snapshots and pick the best images for your prints.

Some online digital photo processing sites not only allow you to edit your photos but also request prints that will come right at your doorstep

Online photo processing isn’t just for photographs. You can use the system to help your scrapbook projects along. The scrapbook industry is huge right now and many people are saving time and money by creating their images for the projects through online photo processing systems. One of my favorite services through a typical system is the ability to create greeting cards through the online photo processing. I take my own pictures and simply select the background setting and the message. You can also put personal notes on the greeting cards as well. I love to send personalized holiday cards with endearing images that mean a lot to the recipients. You can also create amazing gifts through many of the systems as well. Once you have your digital images you can use online photo processing sites to create great calendars. I have made pet calendars for friends. On of my favorite projects is a collection of pictures that I took of my daughter. I took one picture each month during her first year and I created a calendar out of the 12 pictures. This made the perfect gift for her grandparents.

Online photo processing tools can also be used on great sites like Café Press. This site will print your images on coffee mugs, t shirts and just about anything else you can think of. The possibilities are vast with online photo processing.

vintage nude photography
Nude photos has always captured the interest of many photographers in the past and this can be found under the name of vintage nude photography

Vintage photography gives us a glimpse into the past, and helps to allow people to gain some understanding of the world before us. Unlike many of the collections that are considered the staples of art collection, vintage photographs are truly a unique exploration of the recent past, and many eras of the current civilization have come to contribute their share of what makes up vintage photography. Though not the largest grouping of auctioned materials of artistic value, they are still valued for their recollections of past events, and even items relating to vintage modes of photography are included in the auctioning of these things.

Vintage nude photography can be admired on certain sites online but requires some appropriate parental guidance if it is going to be watched by children

Cameras and equipment, photographic books and photo postcards before 1940, and even Viewmaster reels are acceptable pieces of auctioning material. All these things have contributed to the overall history on film, and even as the motion picture took on a predominant role in culture, the photograph has still been a staple of this system forming the basis for it all. Much of what seems to have the most value are those photographs that come from eras predating this revolution in film, and even further back to those images captured years just after the invention of the camera. Some are standards to which we have become accustomed to considering is merely part of our past, and we have to know that these things also have worth.

Vintage nude photography consist mainly of black and white photography that has been taken in the past

It is with this in mind that one can better grasp the innate worth of the photographs that might have caught their eye, and to be most prepared for an art auction with vintage photographs as the focus a bit of research is in order, especially if you wish to get the most out of your money for a proposed purchase. Much as any other auction, the buying and selling of vintage photographs can done in a variety of places, and that even includes through the Internet. Today, the markets are wide open with many different examples from previous eras, and finding that photograph that can really capture your attention can be a difficult process well worth the effort.

There are many organized auction houses that conduct business every day, which could perhaps be of service for you and your needs for the art you choose to become more aware of, and you can learn much by consulting experts on such matters. For the most part, buying and selling art through auctions can be an easy process with the right amount of time and money spent in the right places, and you can always go back to your research when you happen to feel overwhelmed by how complex the bidding can get with these types of experience in life.

It is when you are considering the value of a piece that you already own, that consultation with an appraiser can be of much help, and the more professional ones will go out of their way to get you the best total for your items. When concentrating on just what you want, you be better adapted to finding those needs met more adequately, and you will have no need for fearing the system of rules when it comes to the art auction. The more research that you commit yourself to, the more worth your time it becomes, and the more you can have your money work for you.

family portrait photography
The business of family portrait photography should bring in money regularly because families do want to have regular and updated photos of themselves

Family Photos Everyone loves to get family photos to hang on their walls. These are great ways to remember your family as it grows, and to keep a hold of the moments that are so quickly passing you by. Children often get their portraits done each year in school, but some families often forget to get family photos done in a professional manner. The great news is that you don’t have to pay a fortune for good family photos. Today’s digital technology makes it easier than ever to get great family photos to hang on your living room walls.

Great family portrait photography can be achieved by only some qualified photographers because it is not an easy task to bring many people in a single photo

You can find good deals on portraits if you look around the studios in your area. Though Kmart may not be your idea of high style, you can get good family photos there for a decent price. The best thing about going to a portrait studio in a department store is that you can usually get in relatively fast, and your family photos will arrive quickly. Just make sure that you understand that sometimes these store hire independent contractors to take the photos, and the results might not always be good. If you are not satisfied, don’t be afraid to speak up.

Patience is a good attitude that a photographer if he or she wants to improve in the art of family portrait photography

You can also take your own family photos if you have a decent digital camera. I have been amazed at the quality of photos I get from my digital, and the picture size is perfect. I can get a crisp, clean shot from my digital that is 20 by 30 inches. I can get them printed in this size, or I can crop or shrink them for the perfect size. Many have timers on them, or you can ask someone else to snap the button for you while you pose for your family photos.

Family portrait photography is a service that is offered by most photographers on a home basis

Don’t forget about online sites. Many have free trail offers, and you can upload your family photos for free. You can then order copies and sizes of what you want, and others you invite to view your family photos can print out what they want. These sites sometimes offer you an online photo album so that you can share your family photos with the world if you wish to do so. Don’t forget to have fun with your family photos. If you have photo-editing software, you can do almost anything you want with them. You can take out redeye, or crop it to take out extra background if you wish to do so. You can also cut out your family and put them on any background you wish, or in any situation you wish. Playing around with family photos can be a fun pastime that will put a smile on everyone’s face.

Professional wedding photographer
It is advised to use referrals from friends and relatives when choosing a professional wedding photographer to avoid any unpleasant surprise on the great day

Depending on the size of the budget, and the size of the wedding, wedding photographers can end up being a big expense for the bride and groom. Many feel this is well worth the cost, however, because photographs are perhaps the most common memento of a couple’s wedding day. If you have a large budget, there are probably dozens of wedding photographers in your area from which you can choose. If you don’t, you have other options you may not have considered.

Many people claim to be a professional wedding photographer but in reality there are only amateurs that are in for quick and easy money.

For my wedding day, I went with one of the other options. My budget was small, because I couldn’t justify spending thousands on one day, even if it was my wedding day. There were a few good wedding photographers in my area, but I decided to save a lot of money and I went with something else. I asked my aunt to take my photos for me as a wedding gift. The only cost to me was the cost of film and the cost of getting the film developed.

Choosing a professional wedding photographer can sometimes be a difficult task because of the amount of unqualified photographers that are in the business today

My aunt did a great job, and I knew she would. She had been an amateur photographer her whole life, and I always loved her photographs. It seemed like the obvious choice to me, and she was happy to do it. My photos came out great, and she did a great job at making sure I had every photo I wanted, and even had some suggestions of her own. I saved a lot of money, but there can be a downside to choosing amateur wedding photographers. Professionals often have tried and true poses that they love to use, and these are something you can’t get with someone with little to no wedding experience. This is where you should use your own creativity to guide your photographer.

If you decide to have a look at professional wedding photographers, ask to see a portfolio when you visit. This alone may help you make a decision. You will know almost immediately if you like their work or not. You can find many of these folks at wedding expos, and they often have their work displayed. Something may catch your eye to let you know you have found the one.

You can also find a listing of wedding photographers in your local yellow pages. You may also ask friends and family if they have any recommendations, or if they know someone who may be a great fit for what you are looking for. You may also find a great wedding photographer by calling a college near you. If they have a photography course, you may find a talented student to shoot your wedding, for less money than a seasoned professional, but perhaps with the same quality.

black and white photography
Some quality photo editing software can make a great black and white photography out of your color photos taken with your digital camera.

Black and White Photography Digital cameras come with many features, and one is the ability to try black and white photography. This type of photograph has, in recent decades, become less popular. This is because many people decided they preferred color pictures, and the price for color is more affordable. Some cameras come with settings for black and white photography, and most photo editing software comes with the option to change color photographs into black and white. No matter which way you choose to achieve the look of black and white, you may find that you fall in love with the results. Black and white photography is somewhat of a lost art, and many are finding they like it more than color for portraits or close up photos. Black and white often adds an element of mystery to a photo that color cannot capture. Photos in black and white are especially popular for portraits and candid shots of young children. Black and white photography adds an intimate feel to a photo that you may not find in color. Black and white is also a great alternative for nature photos. A photo of a single flower or a tree can be stunning in black and white. For a unique photograph, you can then take that photo and add color to just one part of the photo using your photo software. You might try adding color to only the flower petals, or in the case of portraits, just the irises of someone’s eyes. A black and white photos are even more striking when they are framed and huge in groups on your wall. When your children are playing quietly with each other, snap five or six photos of them a few second apart. Take these photos and turn them into black and white. Then, buy a set of three or four matching frames and hang them on your wall in a cluster. Stand back and study the results.

While it is a matter of preference, it is easier than every to try black and white photography. If you own a digital camera, it won’t cost you anything to give it a go, and see if you like it. If you aren’t convinced you should give black and white photography a try, do some experimenting. Take some of your existing photos and turn them to black and white using photo editing software. Study the photos side by side and see how each picture makes you feel.

Photography for children
The Internet is full of sites that is dedicated to photography for children and should be worthwhile to visit.

Give a child a camera and you have given them a time machine which will create wonders and may, at some time in the future, be considered family treasures. Expect that, at first, film will just be used quickly in order to see the pictures, but be patient, this will soon be over and selectivity will begin to be shown.

You will undoubtedly be treated to some early shots of grandma as a headless wonder, but these will also be accompanied by some unexpected jewels. As the young photographer learns more about his or her new hobby and why grandma’s head was not in the picture, skills will begin to develop and you will start to see a legend of the world through the eyes of a six year old, or whatever age your young photographer is, begin to emerge.

If you are looking for photography for children then you should consider visiting the frequent photo expositions that are made in all major towns

Expect to see more pictures of the family pet than you will see of any other member of the family. Hey, don’t let it get to you! The kid really doesn’t love the family dog more than he or she loves you, I’m sure of it.

Buy the young photographer an album and fill it with these pictures. Don’t forget to put the date on the back. You might also want to keep a written journal of your own to include with these picture when special occasions are observed and are photographically recorded for all posterity.

There are a lot of books that are available in all good libraries about photography for children

You may want to consider buying or borrowing from the library a book or books on photography for children and share it or them with the young photographer. If the book or books is/are written for someone older, you can simplify it.

Helping your child to set up a scene with toys can make for good shots also. Let him or her see how toy trucks and cars can be set up and photographed in such a way that they look like their full sized counterparts.

Is there a younger sibling in the family? Read up on taking pictures of babies and small children, then share the tips that you have learned with your young photographer. Such things as putting a piece of scotch tape on a little one’s finger for example can lead to some fantastic facial expressions, as he or she tries to figure out what has happened and how to get rid of that thing. Armed with a camera, encouragement and a little bit of knowledge, your young photographer may be the one to get THAT picture, making it doubly a family treasure.

Getting a child interested in photography, is giving them a gift that may well last them a lifetime.

Aerial Photography
There are a lot of photographers that are specialized in the art of aerial photography.

Are you fascinated with aerial photographs? Like many people you are probably enthralled with the perspective – especially if it is of an area you know personally or you spot a well known landmark.

The interest in aerial photography has a long history. Even before men could take photographs high above the earth they were drawing images as they imagined the land to appear from above.

THE HISTORY OF AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY

Whole albums of aerial photography can be viewed in photo expositions or on some specialized websites

The first person to take a picture from above the earth was the French author and artist Felix Tournachon, also known as Nadar. He took his first picture from a balloon which was tethered to the earth over the Bievre Valley in 1858.

Aerial photography played an important part in creating accurate maps and planning military movements. In 1902 the French army used both regular kites and an air filled balloon to obtain shots of enemy standings.

Aerial photography can provide some breathtaking scenery that will have been impossible to obtain otherwise.

HOW AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY CHANGED

Manned and unmanned balloons, kites and eventually gliders were the first transporters to take pictures from on high. Arthur Batut used kites to take aerial photographs in the 1880's and the use of kites in aerial photography has continued virtually unchanged over the course of time – of course, the equipment has improved, but the basic principles continue to draw interest from hobbyists and aerial photography enthusiasts.

With advances in technology the ability to use remote controlled aircraft was added to the group. Associations for aerial photography – whether kite, glider or remote controlled – can be found all over North America and other parts of the world. These forms of taking aerial photography are also used by Universities and others for scientific research in Earth Sciences.

Obviously the advances continued with the creation of satellite imaging, however, hobbyists and scientists continue to make use of, and enjoy, the art of taking aerial photographs with their own equipment.

HOW ARE AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN?

The concept is quite basic. A camera is attached to a kite, balloon, glider or remote controlled aircraft. It is then set on a timer to take photographs at regular intervals. Photos can also be taken with a remote controlled operation which is used by the operator or ground crew.

It is important to know that there are guidelines you are required to follow when taking aerial photographs. In particular there are restrictions on using kites or other items which are tethered to the ground after sunset unless the object and its line are properly lighted.

If you are interested in trying aerial photography try to find information on local groups through the internet or from local hobby shops. Your view on the world will change!

picture restoration
The advent of technology has helped a lot in the field of picture restoration and now we can restore photos more rapidly than in the past

Picture restoration is becoming a frequently used service among families across the United States. An expert photo restorer can do wonders with old photographs that have not stood up to the test of time. You will be amazed by the results. Don’t throw away any creased or torn photographs before consulting with a professional. You can save those irreplaceable images in most cases. Even if sections of the photographs are missing, they can be fixed through picture restoration methods.

Picture restoration is an integral part of today's modern photographic techniques

Just about any photograph can be fixed if you consult the right picture restoration professional. These experts can pull the finest details out of the most faded old photos. They can sharpen and darken images so they are easily recognized and defined. Photos that have had too much sun exposure can be brought back to life through digital technology. The original will still be faded, but you will have that same image as it was generations ago through picture restoration. Creases can be removed from images with relative ease. Even torn pictures can be repaired in a few steps through today’s advanced processes. Digital imaging can also fill in lost sections of photographs that have been severely damaged over time. I was devastated when an old photograph of my great-great grandparents was ruined when I took it out of its frame. I figured that the glass in the frame was ready for a good cleaning. What I didn’t know was the photo was going to stick to the glass as I took it apart. Luckily, I was able to find the right professional who restored the picture for me. Without picture restoration, I would have lost the irreplaceable image that represented an important time in our family’s heritage. I often wonder how many photos have been tossed away over the years that could have been fixed. Today’s technology in digital film has taken us a long way from the old fashioned photographs from long ago. We no longer have to worry about negatives or film exposure. We basically have instant gratification when it comes to our modern day photographs.

It wasn’t that long ago that few people had cameras at all. Many babies grew with no record of their precious little faces. Only their parents’ memories held on to the fleeting moments of infancy. Photographs were few and far between and it makes sense to put forth every effort possible in picture restoration to preserve these rare glimpses into the past.

mastering black and white photography
A good photography school should help in mastering the art of black and white photography

Cameras have made great strides in progress over the years. Today’s digital camera can capture the finest details and the most delicate ranges of colors. However, sometimes regular black and white photos are far more interesting than color prints especially when you consider the subject.

I love black and white photos of people. In my opinion, the best portraits are black and white photos. The contrast is sharper with this type of image and you can pick out more details in the face as well. You concentrate on the person’s features rather than the colors at work.

Many photographers are still in the trade of mastering black and white photography

Too much color can make the onlooker lose focus. Sharp black and white photos provide focus and clarity that is often lost when there is a lot of color in the portrait. You may think that you want a color photograph to set off your ice-blue eyes but a black and white photo will work even better because of the sleek contrast.

Also, you can always opt to have some color remaining in the photographs. Many professional photographers create amazing images through adding a little color to black and white photos. This really targets the focus of the subject.

Mastering black and white photography is surely going to make you create some very exciting photos

For example, one of the most striking wedding images is a black and white photo of a bride and groom. The bride is holding a bouquet of roses. The photographer adds a deep red hue to the flowers and leaves the rest of the photograph in its original state. This creates breathtaking contrast that will impress and inspire. So if you want to focus on your eyes, you could still have the classic, clean feel of black and white photos while still incorporating the light blue color of your eyes as well. The process works the same as in the wedding example. The focus of this image will be eyes instead of flowers. I enjoy the color-sparse images so much that I often take my digital images and create black and white photos out of them. There are endless options available in Photoshop. You can quickly learn how to navigate through the program to develop black and white photos that suit your subject as well as your tastes.

Some artists are inspired by the process as well. Creating drawings of people is often best started from black and white photos. The details tend to be sharper and the image is far easier to recreate, especially if the artist is using charcoal or pencil.

People generally love color but sometimes certain subjects call for black and white photos. With today’s digital camera and programs like Photoshop, you can experiment with color or the lack of color if you so choose.

digital photography magazine
Subscribing to a digital photography magazine should allow you to be connected with all the fast development in the world of digital photography

If you are an American photographer, it is important to stay on top of your field, as it is in any area. Although it is possible to study photography quite successfully with no regard for the traditions or conventions of your time, getting a subscription to at least one American photo magazine can really help. I know. I am a professional photographer myself, and like many in my field, I like to think of myself as an artist first, and a professional second. I do do photography of weddings and other events to pay the bills, however I thought that since I do not intend to spend my whole career as a commercial photographer, I could get by on what I knew as an artist. But once I subscribed to my first American photo magazine, I was quite surprised. I did not really realize how much I was missing out on in terms of professional development until I first thumbed through my American photo magazine, and saw that I was falling seriously behind in my chosen profession.

You should choose a digital photography magazine on the quality of the articles that are published in it and also by the tips that they provide

There is not much for non photographers in American photo magazines, but some of them do have fascinating pictures which you can look at and enjoy for their artistic merit. My wife reads my American photo magazine all of the time, even though she has no interest in pictures except for their aesthetic quality. She can pick up a copy of my American photo magazine and thumb through it for hours just looking at the high quality, glossy prints and marveling at the talents of the artists inside. There is nothing like looking at an American photo magazine to really give you a new way of seeing the world around you. Whether there are pictures of nature or of humans, the images in an American photo magazine will allow you the benefits of looking at the world with an artists eye, and those benefits are substantial. Anything that gives you a new perspective on the world is, in my opinion, invaluable, and so if you get the chance to open up your eyes wider through looking at art, you should really take that opportunity. For this reason, I do not only read my American photo magazine, but also read trade magazines of writers, musicians, and cinematographers, since the input of creative people of any field can be a great asset to all of us.

lion picture
If you are looking for a lion picture you could search on the internet as this is a very popular item

Have you ever seen a picture of a lion? Lions are majestic, strong creatures known as kings of the jungle. They are big, fierce looking animals that command respect. If you ever have the opportunity to examine a lion picture up close, pay special attention to the lion’s eyes. They have large, round pupils and are quite mesmerizing. Looking at a picture of a lion will also reveal what large, sharp claws a lion possess. The claws on an adult, male lion can be up to 1 ½ inches long! A well-taken lion picture, shot at close range, can reveal many other things about the lion as well.

A lion picture is the most attractive when it is roaring in the wild

In institutions of higher learning, an image of a lion is sometimes used in classes teaching subjects such as zoology. A lion picture makes a great teaching resource, and depending on what setting the lion picture was taken in, can teach much about the lion, its habits, what it likes to eat as well as its habitat.

Artists have also been known to utilize a photograph of a lion as subjects of study for their artwork. One of the better known artists who is known for rendering a beautiful, life-like lion picture is Sue Dickinson. She has done many whose titles include “Lioness among the Thorns”, “Blackmaned Lion”, “Mister Majestic” and “Fuzzballs.” This particular painter of lion pictures has her own website that features original paintings; prints as well as rubber stamps.

A lion picture is sure an attractive design to place on a t-shirt or any other clothing as it symbolizes power

Any of these would make a great gift for the wildlife enthusiast, or a wonderful addition to your home décor. It is not hard to find an acceptable lion picture either as they are available at galleries, art shows and fine home furnishing stores. There are also entire websites aimed at offering wonderful lion pictures. They are also numerous other products that feature a lion picture such as coffee mugs, calendars, t-shirts, ties, stationary, magnets, note cards, jewelry, sheets, pillows and even table lamps. If you know someone who loves collecting anything with a lion picture on it, why not try one of the aforementioned items to brighten their day? If you are handy with a camera, take a trip to your local zoo or wildlife sanctuary and capture your very own lion picture. Of course, the lion probably won’t be willing to pose for you, but you can get some great lion pictures if you are patient. A lion will eat, rest, play and interact with other lions, all which will offer the chance at a great picture.

Locating one of these great images isn’t too difficult. A lion picture can be found almost anywhere, and are usually very economically priced. If cost is not a factor, consider purchasing an original version fashioned by one of the better-known artists, the investment is well worth it.

lighthouse pictures
There are a lot of sites on the internet that should provide free lighthouse pictures that you can use without royalty.

Are you interested in lighthouses? If you are, you might consider decorating your house with them. Not actual lighthouses of course, but what about lighthouse pictures? There are many types of items available on the market featuring a lighthouse theme. You can find almost anything, from lighthouse musical boxes to lighthouse lawn ornaments. Instead of just throwing up a few lighthouse pictures on your walls, try to find something unique for your rooms.

In many expositions you are sure to find some lighthouse pictures because of the popularity of this building with photographers

Having a few images of lighthouses in your bathroom would be nice, but it’s best not to only focus on photographs. Adding a lighthouse plaque to a lifeless lavatory wall would be a great start. This in itself allows for all types of styles. You can have a traditional red-and-white house setting along a rocky shore. Or maybe you want something different, perhaps one that’s completely abstract in a fantasy setting. No matter what way you go, always remember your theme is lighthouses. Another way to incorporate what you want in your bathroom would be to consider utilizing soap dishes and dispensers that are reflective of your love. Also, having a stained glass piece mounted upon another wall would help decorate your room. Aside from your bathroom, it’s really important to remember the other rooms in your home, such as the bedroom. They too can reveal items that illustrate your love of lighthouse pictures. One of the most spectacular is, of course, a lighthouse clock. There are hundreds of beautiful images of them in all types of shores available for a clock background alone! And while some people overlook the idea of a clock, candles in the shape and color of these beautiful structures would make a perfect addition to your living room. These often will have breathtaking lighthouse pictures on the side of them. The living room would be a great spot to consider placing your lighthouse collection. Not only would you be allowed to enjoy these wonderful works of art, but by placing them in the living room, you’re giving others who enter your humble home a chance to get lost in the majestic quality of these pictures. Along with images of lighthouse pictures, a lighthouse floor lamp would add a tremendous touch of elegance. So you’ve finished with your basic lighthouse decorating, but don’t forget the outside! While it’s true you can’t very well have lighthouse pictures placed in your yard, you can think about purchasing a lighthouse birdhouse. They come in many styles, but their form remains true. And since you want to provide an overall lighthouse feel, adding a few lawn ornaments around the yard would help a lot! These products would allow people passing by to have the opportunity to catch a glimpse of your powerful passion for lighthouse pictures.

animal photo
If you are looking for an animal photo there is a lot of online sites that provide both paid and free photos.

Many people think that pictures of animals are just for children, but boy are they all mistaken. They might look at cute animal photos when they are small, but as they grow, they assume that, like cuddly stuffed bears, these pictures of animals are best left to childhood. Oh sure, trying to be cute, their boss might leave animal photos up around the office as a pleasant, if boring decoration, but no one ever thinks about these pictures at all. I really do think that this is a great shame. As a professional animal photographer, it should be no surprise that I like animal photos, but the reasons might be things that you have never thought about.

A t-shirt with an animal photo can be a great item to be given as a gift to a child

One of the greatest things about animal photos is that they really can capture any emotion that you can think about. People are often reserved about showing what is going on inside them, but reserve is not really anything that shows up too frequently among the members of the animal kingdom. In animal photos, we have the chance to see practically any emotion, from the tenderness of a mother cat caring for her young, to the fierceness of a lion pouncing for the kill, to the sly disdain of a baboon, leaving its friends behind for new fun. Many people believe that we are not really seeing these expressions in animal photos, and that what we are seeing is just a reflection of our own emotions that we want to pin on animals, but anyone who has spent any time with animals at all knows that this is simply not true. When we look at animal photos, we are looking out at our own emotions, not because we put them there, but because animals are really very strikingly similar to us. Dogs really do feel loyalty and friendliness quite often. You can tell if you have a pet dog what the expressions in dog animal photos really mean. Cats really are quite evil and sneaky, not because their tiny, creepy eyes look that way in animal photos, but because that is their natural temperament. Animals are less intelligent than we are, and are more driven by instinct, but that does not change the fact that they feel real emotions the same as we do. It does not take animal photos to show most of us the truth of this statement, but looking at pictures of animals can help to confirm it again and again.

african american photography
African American photography has had a major influence on the history of photography that is worth considering

The continent of Africa is one of the richest in the world in terms of resources, richness of culture, and variety of wild life, although it remains among the poorest in terms of the standard of living in which its people have to live. Outside of Africa photos in National Geographic, few people ever get the opportunity to explore this unique continent, this land of desert and lush jungles. Yet Africa photos alone fail to capture the majesty of Africa. It is not all just people dancing around with spears and wild animals leaping across the plains. Things like National Geographic tend to reinforce stereotypes with their Africa wildlife photos, and their tribal photos, and ignore the other side of Africa.

The African American photography has left a great variety of photos that can be admired in photography expositions

Nonetheless, as any fan of Africa photos knows, this exotic side is one of the greatest draws there is and is what bring many people – perhaps most tourists – to the continent. As a photojournalist, I have spent many months taking photos of Africa in between my wider travels in Europe and Asia, and I can tell you that there is an air of excitement to the land that is completely unlike anywhere else where I have ever traveled. The Africa photos just do not begin to capture all of the sites, sounds, and textures of this rich continent. The dryness of the deserts, the heat of the North, and the richness of peoples, cultures, and languages can simply not be captured. They are all things which I simply can not include in any of my Africa photos no matter how I try, thing which must be experienced first hand by a traveler, even if only for a little while, and only as a tourist.

We cannot underestimate the contribution of African American photography especially in the field of black and white photography

Many of the Africa photos which I take are not African tribal photos, but rather, pictures of the cities and the people who live there. I will not claim that my African pictures present a truer vision of Africa then the photos that you might see in some world traveler magazine, but they are certainly part of the picture. What is the true Africa? The ancient land portrayed in the Africa photos which everyone has seen in magazines, or the modern, cosmopolitan Africa which I am working so hard to portray. Honestly, like anywhere, the truth lies somewhere in between. But no matter what you think, the Africa photos alone never tell the whole story without the viewer.

Taking your love of photography on the road is one of the really exciting assignments a photographer can get. Whether you are going out into nature to photograph a great sunrise, a phenomenal river or to capture some other wonder of nature or if you are going to an urban area to get photos that tell the story of a people, the safari nature of the trip is the same. Your Photography Safari is a business trip to you and you have a mission. Yes, you must stay focused on the purpose of the trip and stay on schedule. On location, the session is about your subject, not your equipment. Your equipment is there to serve you. Now you keep your eye on the prize. Read also: Photo christmas cards

Ebay and your own website are other ways to sell your digital photos online.

The first thing to do if you want to make money from photos is learn how to take great ones. In the world of commercial photography clarity sells. The subject of how to take a good photo is too comprehensive for one article, however the following is important:

· Have a decent camera.
· Know how to use it.
· Have an eye for detail and colour.
· Be ready to grab an opportunity when it presents itself.

If you happen to be driving through the hills of Scotland and come across a lone piper (or even two), grab that camera. Watch for sunsets, moonrise, cloud formations and tree shapes. Keep a sharp eye on your pet for unusual poses, and visit your florist every so often. Flower pictures are surely many photographers’ bread and butter and they can be photographed in the light on your windowsill. Greeting card markets love photos of flowers, gardens and pets doing something unusual. Wildlife and nature are great for calendars and geographic magazines and educational markets.

Diversity is the keyword for topics in photography. The wider the range of topics you cover, the more likely you will be to get a sale. Anyone can make a good living from stock photos. Freelance photographer Lee Frost (UK) sells just as many photos taken from his own backyard as from exotic and far-flung locations. In fact he sold a pic of the dandelions in his garden to a natural health book. But if you love travelling, put your holidays to work for you. Travel guides, brochures and websites could be possible markets for your photos.

So what to do with that fantastic shot? The edges are sharp enough to cut with, while the clarity would bring tears of joy to many publishers. The main thing to aim for with any photo is to sell it to multiple markets. This is taken care of if you submit to a photo library. You don’t have to be responsible for selling your own stuff then, but since the word is ‘diversify’ aim to do both. Offer it to non-competing markets over several years, since you are not selling the copyright.

It is important for any photographer to keep a portfolio of his work to show. You never know when you’ll meet a prospective buyer who wants to look at your work and they will not be impressed if you have to rummage through a dusty desk to scrape them together. When you do score a sale, don’t charge a pittance just because the picture only took a few minutes of your time. You’ve spent years learning your craft and your photos are worth a decent figure.

If you really know what you are talking about and can take a fantastic shot, think of submitting it to a photographic magazine, along with all the details of the precise equipment you used and a step-by step account of your procedure. A bit of a challenge maybe, but worth the effort. There are many other markets to consider too; all kind of magazines, newspapers, catalogues, travel brochures and books. So grab that camera and start shooting.
